It’s been a while since I had taken a self portrait so I created this of Hailey and I. This was done with a 50mm lens to show that good images need not be done with thousands of dollars worth of lenses and equipment as long as you know how to use what you have. I’m toying with the idea of showing exactly what went into this shot and what I did so look out for a possible future post on this.
I’m always trying to find a new concept or idea to incorporate into the business side of my photography. Even if a test shoot fails completely, I’ve learned something, which is quite important in not only growing with your photography but giving your clients something innovative and fresh. I’m fortunate to have some beautiful as well as sweet and kind friends, a very rare trait these days believe me, that I get to do these test shoots on. Here’s a few shots from a recent test shoot for lighting, concept and post processing
Here are a few samples from John and Missy’s Engagement Shoot. It was a frigid 15 degrees but they handled it so well and we managed to get some great shots
Even though this was a travel wedding, I managed to get a few clips of video in between shots and I whipped this together for the bride and groom. This video is a perfect example of content over equipment, sure I could have done a better job on the technical side if I had packed or shipped more gear, but this wasn’t something I was expecting to do and that didn’t matter anyway. I got the content which is what really matters and this was a great little addition to their day. Sometimes being restricted is the best way to expand.
